CHELMSFORD - Audrey Elaine (Wilson) Vollmers passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 7th, 2019, after a brief, unexpected illness.
Audrey was predeceased by her beloved husband, Arnold Vollmers, her father Harold A. Wilson, her mother Bertha B. (Speidel) Wilson, and her three siblings; Walter Wilson, Lorraine (Wilson) Deame, and Alfred Wilson.
Audrey grew up in Waltham, MA, but as a young adult, moved to Colorado with a friend to start a new life. She was quite successful in that endeavor. She found employment as a bookkeeper, met her husband, Arnold, and lived all of her Colorado years in a home on the side of a mountain in Evergreen, in the Rocky Mountains.
Audrey held her family and friends dear to her heart. She maintained lifelong correspondence with all of her aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, as well as friends she and Arnold made in Colorado and met on their many Caribbean vacations.
Audrey had many passions through her life. As a youngster she was an avid hiker and climbed Mount Washington five times. She and Arnold were active members of a square-dancing club for many years. When she came back east to visit family, a raucous game of “Oh Hell” would inevitably break out.
Audrey’s positive outlook, love of family and friends, as well as her deep religious faith carried her through her life. Those close to her will never forget her great sense of humor and her infectious laugh.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, August 17th at 11:00 am at the First Parish Unitarian Universalist Church, 2 Westford Street, Chelmsford.
KINDLY GATHER AT THE CHURCH.
Interment will be held privately.
