Bruno, along with Mary, watched, helped, and co-labored with us as our 5 children have grown over the past 23 years. Far more than just a neighbor, he has been an advisor, news source, employer, house and animal caretaker, and friend. His door was always open to sit and talk, check on the latest happenings locally, or discuss the issues of the times. He was always attentive to our comings and goings, walking along side us through the years as our kids grew to ride bikes, drive cars, go to college, and get jobs. Our 5 children must have provided Bruno with endless entertainment as they played in the yard, on the trampoline, and in the driveway because he would often call us over to relay a story of some kind about what he had seen. He never complained about the noise. All of our children have grown to love Bruno and characterize his manners and encouragement with two fists pumping in excitement over what they were doing or the help they had given him. I can remember many times we stood in our driveways during a snow storm as we took breaks from shoveling to chat. He never seemed to care about the cold or the snow; he was far more interested in me and what I was up to. I think Bruno had it right. Relationships were more important to him than things. He seemed to know everyone in the neighborhood, and his love for and friendship with Mary has been beautiful to see and experience. Never apart long and, if so, he would always let us know how she was doing. His presence in the neighborhood was like ‘the Mayor of Rivermeadow’. Walking daily, he and Mary would collect the latest and be sure others were informed. Have you ever seen an advertisement for a home for sale state, “House includes incredible neighbor.”? Over 20 years ago, when we bought the house next to Bruno and Mary, that statement should have been included in the listing. Our family has been blessed to have him for so many years as our friend and neighbor. Mary, we love you, and are ready and waiting to serve you in whatever way you need. May God richly bless you.

My heart is so sad that you have gone. I have loved and looked forward to our ‘geriatric’ field trips. I will miss our talks and ‘burgers’. I feel blessed to have had so much time with you in the last couple years. Love you Uncle Bruno. Be at peace. ~ Patty
