CHELMSFORD- Dorothy M. “Dottie” (Eliasen) LeBlanc, a longtime resident of Chelmsford, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 18, 2019 at Lowell General Hospital surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of the late Donald J. LeBlanc.
Dottie was born in Lowell on May 1, 1935, and was the daughter of the late Martin and Gladys (Weeks) Eliasen.
Dottie graduated from Chelmsford High School in 1953. She married Donald LeBlanc of Lowell in 1954 and became a devoted homemaker, wife and mother to her husband and two children, Kevin and Karen. As the children grew she took a job at the Pelham Manor Nursing Home and later on at the Charles River Laboratories. She stayed in touch with her old friends from high school and Charles River Labs for many years to come, meeting them for dinner every so often.
In her spare time she loved to read, pouring through book after book in the course of each week. She also loved doing word searches, puzzles and playing Rummy. She taught all her grandchildren how to play Rummy which they loved to do with her whenever they were together and they LOVED to be with HER! And she loved her cats! Her last cat, Sabrina, was with her for at least 25 years until the end. They were the best of friends.
Dottie always made such an effort to be with her children and grandchildren no matter where they were. She visited her son and his family when they lived in Texas as often as she could. She was always at all her grandchildren’s sporting events, birthdays, graduations and any and every event they celebrated. She became a “Grammy” to so many others as well...the children of her nephew, extended family, close friends... she was everyone’s Grammy.
Dottie is survived by her brother, Donald Eliasen of Westford, MA, her son, Kevin LeBlanc, (Joanne) of Rochester, NY, her daughter, Karen Carvalho of Derry, NH, her grandchildren; Matthew LeBlanc (Amanda) of Bryan, TX, Katie Telle (Jeff) of Rochester, NY, Philip LeBlanc (Elizabeth) of Londonderry, NH and Melissa LaCroix ( Thomas ) of Derry, NH. She was also greatly blessed with eight great-grandchildren, Christopher, Emilie, Keegan, Sarah, Lauren, Madeline, Eleanor, and Carter. She is also survived by her nephew, Gregory Eliasen, (Susan) of Andover, MA and their sons, Jason and Alex and her niece Victoria Grant (Tim) of Asbury, NJ and their sons, Thor and Joshua. She was pre-deceased by her grandson, David Carvalho and her son in law, Kevin Carvalho.
Funeral Services and interment will be held privately.
