Dorothy was born in Cambridge, MA, on January 25, 1931 and was a daughter of the late John E. and Olive (Kaiser) Pierce.

She was raised in Arlington, MA, where she graduated from Arlington High School with the class of 1948. In 1952, Dorothy earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from Bates College, where she majored in Sociology and minored in Psychology. Dorothy made lifetime friends during her time living in Arlington, including Connie (Young) Whitmore, who she met at the age of 5. She married her college classmate, Jerry A. Morris on May 2, 1953, and lived in Belleville, IL for a time during her husband's service in the US Air Force from 1952 to 1956. In Illinois, her oldest child Sue was born at Scott AF Base. After Jerry's discharge Dorothy and her husband settled in Chelmsford in 1957 where their children Jill, Rick, and Janet were all born at Lowell General Hospital.

Later on, Dorothy moved into the world of computers as a sales person of Business Systems Software for large international corporations from where she retired in 1991.

On April 3, 2000, Dorothy married Ron Clayton, with whom she shared travels in the US and abroad, walks on the the Bruce Freeman Rail Trail in Chelmsford as well as on the trails of Cape Cod near their home in South Yarmouth. On behalf of the Chelmsford Land Conservation Trust, I wish to send our heartfelt sympathies to Dorothy’s family. I so enjoyed spending time with Dottie as we attended meetings and outdoor walks as members of the Board of Directors. I will forever recall her kind smile and warm personality.
