Lawrence Robert "Larry" Hansen, age 83, longtime resident of Westford and Cocoa, FL, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 24, 2019, at his home in Westford, surrounded by his loving family. He is now at his heavenly home with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He was the beloved husband of Barbara A. (Bales) (McNeil) Hansen with whom he shared 34 years of marriage.

Larry was born on April 30, 1936 in Chicago, Illinois, and was a son of the late Robert and Edith (Fransen) Hansen.

After High School, Larry joined the United States Air Force where he spent a 26 year career proudly serving during the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam War. He was trained and educated to become a Medical Technologist, rising in rank and position. He became the highest-ranking NCO in his last two duties. Later, he worked over 10 years at Brigham & Women's Hospital, other area hospitals and private laboratories. In his spare time, Larry enjoyed playing golf with his friends, having played the sport since high school. He shot a hole in one during 2019 league play. Late last year, Larry participated in a Veterans Space Coast Honor Flight where he thoroughly enjoyed visiting the war monuments on the National Mall in Washington, DC. Most of all, Larry cherished his time with his family, friends, and special pals Buzz and Petie.

In addition to his loving wife, Larry leaves his daughters; Christine Hansen and Colleen J. Cherico, his step-sons; Bernie and Bryan McNeil, his step-daughter, Laura Bolduc and her husband Paul, his daughter-in-law and special family member Robin McNeil, and his brother E. Russell Hansen and his wife Aniela of Palm Bay, FL. He also leaves 12 grandchildren; Alexandra, Lindsay, Katherine, Julia, Sarah, Kayla, Robert, Jake, Nicholas, Trevor, Rachel, and Justin, and 2 great-grandsons; Brayden and Julian.

Sadly, he was predeceased by his brother William "Bill" Hansen and his sister Dorothy Fahy.

Visiting Hours will be held from 5 - 8 on Tuesday at the Blake Chelmsford Funeral Home, 24 Worthen St., Chelmsford. So, my favorite memory of Larry is when I would ask him how he was and, one time, he says," I'm great. Pray for Barbara." I asked, "Why?" To which he replied, "She's gotta put up with me!" We laughed. He was full of mischief and always had that gleam in his eye. We loved him so much and are so glad we'll see him again! Love, the Bengers.
