Spiro Vrouhas Obituary (1939

Spiro Vrouhas, 72, a lifelong resident of Chelmsford, passed away peacefully Sunday, April 1, 2012, at the Lahey Clinic with his loving family by his side. He was the beloved husband of Elaine Cookie (Delazanos) Vrouhas to whom he was married for more than 53 years. He was born in Lowell on November 20, 1939 and was the son of the late Charles and Mary Vrouhas. Spiro was a graduate of Chelmsford High School, Class of 1957. He dedicated his life to his family, his businesses, and his community. He was the proud owner of Spiros Eggs, an egg retail and wholesale business he founded in 1958. In later years, he also became the owner of the Chelmsford Auto Court and the Hi Way Farm Market. He was a Charter member of the Chelmsford Lodge of Elks; President of the Chelmsford Kiwanis; and a proud member of the National Republican Committee. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter Maryanne Squeglia and her husband Jason of Dunstable; a daughter-in-law Paula Vrouhas, widow of his son, the late Dino Vrouhas of Chelmsford; three grandsons, Spiro C. Vrouhas and Spencer Vrouhas, both of Chelmsford, Anthony Squeglia of Dunstable; one granddaughter, Liana Squeglia of Dunstable; a sister Dorothy Pitarys and her husband James of Hollis, NH; and a sister-in-law, Sophia Cakounes and her husband Peter of Dracut. He also leaves many nieces, nephews, cousins, and one aunt, Helen (Vrouhas) Koulas. Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday from 4:00 to 8:00 pm at the BLAKE FUNERAL HOME, 24 Worthen St., CHELMSFORD. His Funeral will be on Thursday at 10 oclock at St. Philip Greek Orthodox Church, 500 West Hollis St., Nashua, NH. Interment in Westlawn Cemetery, Lowell. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to St. Philip Greek Orthodox Church, 500 West Hollis Street, Nashua, NH 03062.
