Bruce C. McCarthy Obituary (1952 - 2014)

CHELMSFORD- Bruce C. McCarthy, 62, a longtime resident of Chelmsford passed away Sunday, November 23, 2014 at Lowell General Hospital. He is the beloved husband of Roland W. Roy to whom he was married for 10 years. He was born in Milford on October 10, 1952 a son of Joan (Cameron) McCarthy and the late Eugene F. McCarthy. He graduated from Somerville High School and then went on to receive a Bachelor in Special Education from Fitchburg State College. Bruce worked as a Special Education teacher for EDCO of Massachusetts. He also taught in several school systems around New England. Bruce also at one time owned and operated the Bruce Cameron Salon in Tewksbury and spent some time working as a florist. Bruce was known for his creativity and enjoyed painting and gardening. He also enjoyed his time singing in the Boston Gay Mens Chorus for many years. In addition to his husband and mother, Bruce is survived by a brother and sister, Eugene F. McCarthy Jr. of Dorchester and Linda S. Tomczykowski and her husband Richard of Bedford, four nephews and one niece and his two adored grandnieces. Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday from 4 to 8 pm at the BLAKE FUNERAL HOME, 24 Worthen St. CHELMSFORD. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to the Lowell General Cancer Center, 295 Varnum Ave. Lowell, MA 01854.
