Catherine A. Desfosse Obituary (1940

Catherine A. (Liebsch) Desfosse, age 84, a longtime resident of Chelmsford, passed away peacefully at the Residence of Freeman Lake, Chelmsford on Tuesday, January 7, 2025. Cathy lived a life rooted in family, faith, love, and service to others. Born in New York on July 22, 1940, the daughter of the late Hans and Johanna (ODonnell) Liebsch, she grew up in Hasbrouck Heights, New Jersey, graduating with honors from the Holy Trinity High School in Hackensack, New Jersey. She raised her family first on Long Island, New York, moving to Chelmsford in 1980. Cathy was devoted to her family and her faith, especially through her service at Saint Mary Parish. Her strong faith was her cornerstone; she dedicated countless hours to her parish and faith community, where she was known for her kindness, generosity, and tireless efforts in supporting the spiritual growth of those around her. She found great fulfillment in her roles as a religious education teacher, lector, eucharistic minister, spiritual advisor, and hospice volunteer, always offering a helping hand to those in need. In addition to her faith, Cathy cherished time spent with family, gathering for holidays, celebrations, and cheering her granddaughters on at their softball games. She is survived by her son Don and his wife Betsey, of Andover; her son Jim, of Tewksbury; her son Peter, of Nashua; and her daughter Sue, of New Jersey; eight adoring grandchildren including David, Alyssa, Lindsey, Taylor, Rylie, Ashley, Colin and Mason, and her beautiful great-granddaughter, Brielle. Visiting hours will be held on Friday, January 10, 2025 from 4pm to 7pm at the BLAKE CHELMSFORD FUNERAL HOME, 24 Worthen Street, CHELMSFORD. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, January 11, 2025 at 9am at St. Mary Parish, 25 North Road, CHELMSFORD. Interment will follow in Pine Ridge Cemetery, CHELMSFORD. Memorial donations may be made in Catherines memory to St. Mary Church, Chelmsford, the Dementia Society of America, or the American Cancer Society.
