Edward P. 'Ted' O'Malley, Jr. Obituary (1925

CHELMSFORD- EDWARD P. "Ted" O'MALLEY, age 85, a longtime Chelmsford resident, passed away on July 2, 2010 with his family by his side. He was the cherished husband of Ardelle M. (Murray) with whom he celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary on May 12, 2010. Ted was born in Lowell on January 5, 1925, son of the late Edward P. and Margaret (McArdle) O'Malley. He honorably served his country in the Army Air Corps during WWII and in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. A lifelong pilot, he flew as an international 747 Captain for Trans World Airlines for 30 years, until his retirement in 1985. Ted was an avid golfer and member of Vesper Country Club for 57 years. He also loved sailing and was a member of the Jubilee Yacht Club in Beverly. He was a faithful Communicant of St. Mary Church. In addition to his wife, he leaves his beloved daughter Loyce A. Lawlor and her husband, Atty. Peter V. Lawlor of Chelmsford. He was a loving and devoted grandfather to Barrett O'Malley Lawlor, Peter V. Lawlor, Jr., and Edward C. "Teddy" Lawlor. He also leaves a sister Brenda McElhinney of Dalton, GA. Visting hours will be held Tuesday from 4:00-7:00 pm at the BLAKE FUNERAL HOME, 24 Worthen St., CHELMSFORD. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday at 9 o'clock at St. Mary Church, 25 North Rd. Interment in Hart Pond Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy in Ted's memory may be made to the Lowell General Hospital Cancer Center, 295 Varnum Ave., Lowell, MA 08154.
