Forrest L. 'Popeye' Philbrook Obituary (1919

CHELMSFORD- Forrest L. Popeye Philbrook , 88, a lifelong resident of Chelmsford, died on Friday, May 30, 2008. He was the beloved husband of the late Evelyn M. (Sturtevant) Philbrook, who died in 1991. He was born on September 23, 1919 in Sidney, ME the son of the late Sanford A. and Alice A. (Swift) Philbrook. Prior to his retirement, Popeye as he was known, worked as a Heavy Equipment Operator for the Town of Chelmsford Highway Department. He was a Charter Member of the Chelmsford Lodge of Elks 2310. He enjoyed farming, attending horse shows, and spending winters in Florida. He is survived by four loving children; Judith Fennell and her husband Henry of Hudson, NH, Joanne Skillings and her husband Roger of Hollis, NH, David Philbrook and his wife Mary of Tyngsboro, and Charles Philbrook and his wife Joanne of Woodstock, NH, twelve grandchildren, and twenty one great-grandchildren. He was also the brother of the late Stella Philbrook. Visiting hours at the Blake Funeral Home, 24 Worthen St., Chelmsford, on Tuesday evening from 5-8 pm. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers expressions of sympathy may be made in Forrests name to a charity of ones choice.
