Frank J. Pavlica, Jr. Obituary (1938

CHELMSFORD-Frank J. Pavlica, Jr., 73, passed away in his home in S. Chelmsford on Monday, April 18th, after a courageous battle with cancer. Frank was born to Frank and Bessie Pavlica on February 5th, 1938, and grew up in Toledo, Ohio. Frank was the oldest of 7 children and attended Good Shepherd Catholic Elementary School and Macomber Vocational High School where he studied electronics. Frank served 5 years of active duty with the U.S. Air Force and was stationed in Thule, Greenland. He then spent 26 years working for the Air Force as a electronics technician in the Space Physics Division of the Air Force Geophysics lab, While serving there, Mr. Pavlica was awarded the Command Award for Valor for performing CPR on a fellow colleague who had suffered a heart attack. After his retirement from the lab, he went on to study Law Enforcement and spent 20 years working as a Police Officer for the town of Harvard Police Department. Frank was a member of the Elks Club Chelmsford Lodge, #2310 and a life-long Ham Radio Operator - call letters W8WJW. He also was a member of the American Legion Post 313 Chelmsford, Ma. On April 1st 1992, the Commonwealth of Massachusetts town of Harvard Board of Selectmen, appointed Frank to the position of control communications for the Civil Defense, a position he held for 11 years. He was pre-deceased by his father Frank J. Pavlica Sr., and his special friend Barbara Lyons. Survivors include mother Bessie B. Pavlica, Perrysburg, Ohio; brothers John (Mariester) Pavlica, Toledo, Ohio, and Joseph (Gertrude) Pavlica, Boulder City, Nevada; sisters Margaret (Robert) Tolles, Oregon, Ohio, Carol Sarns, Oregon, Ohio, Patricia (Bernard) Sailer, Northwood, Ohio, and Kathleen (Howard) Gurtzweiler, Perrysburg, Ohio; and many special nieces and nephews. He also leaves special friends, Lynn Martin, Tina Lin, Susan Wyman, and Belinda Wainwright. A special thanks to the VNA Hospice of Greater Lowell for their care and compassion and to his brother Joseph for being his caregiver for the past 3 months. It being his wish, there will be no visitation. Family and friends are invited to attend his Graveside Service at Fairview Cemetery on Main St., in N. Chelmsford on Friday at 10:00am.
