Neal Cameron Stanley Obituary (1926 - 2014)

CHELMSFORD - Neal C. Stanley of Chelmsford passed away peacefully at the age of 88 at Lowell General Hospital on Sunday, February 16th. He was born in Lowell, MA on January 19, 1926 and was raised in Chelmsford and continued to live there for most of his adult life. He was educated in Chelmsford Schools and attended Chelmsford High School. He joined the Marines in 1942 and was sent to Parris Island for training. He then went on to serve in the Asiatic Pacific area and was honorably discharge as a Corporal in 1946. When he returned home, he met Marion M. Mitchell. They married and resided in Concord, MA for a few years before moving to Chelmsford. Neal worked for the Gas Company and was the Gas Inspector for the Town of Chelmsford for many years. He was also a maintenance contractor for Exxon. He enjoyed entertaining at the family lake home in Belmont, NH and also at poolside barbeques at home in Chelmsford. He was the life of the party; family members, friends and neighbors still tell the stories today! He had coffee every morning with all of his buddies at Skips Diner for many, many years. Neal is survived by his wife of more than 60 years, Marion M. Stanley of Chelmsford, a son, Neal C. Stanley II and his companion Kathy McDermott of Chelmsford, a daughter, Heather A. (Stanley) Ricard and her husband Bob of Hollis, NH and two granddaughters, Kasey McDermott-Stanley of Chelmsford and Marissa E. Ricard of Hollis, NH. Neal was predeceased by his grandson Cameron C. Ricard, who died tragically in an auto accident in December 2013; he was 17 years old. He was also predeceased by both parents, Maurice and Marion (Cameron) Stanley, formerly of Chelmsford. Per Neals request, there will be no services. A private family celebration will be held at a later date.
