Norman D McLoon Jr. Obituary (1936 - 2015)

Chelmsford MA Norman D. McLoon, Jr. a longtime resident of North Chelmsford, passed away suddenly on April 1, 2015 at Lowell General Hospital. Norman was born on November 11, 1936 in Lowell, son of the late Norman D. Sr. and Doris McLoon. He was the beloved husband of Bertha (Henry) McLoon for 56 years. He was a member of the Class of 1954 at Lowell High School and a graduate of Nichols College, Suffolk University, and Mass College of Pharmacy. He worked as a Pharmaceutical Sales representative for Hoechst-Celanese for almost thirty years, covering the Boston hospitals up to his retirement. Norman was active in the community serving as: a Corporator on the Lowell General Hospital Development Committee, Board Member for the Lowell Visiting Nurse Association, President, Trustee and Chairman of the Building Committee at the River Valley Home. He also served on the Vestry and Building Committee at St. Annes Episcopal Church in Lowell. Norman was a Scottish Rite 33rd degree Mason and faithfully served in many areas including Past Master of William North Lodge, York Rite, Treasurer/Secretary of the Lowell Masonic Association, Founding Director of the 32nd degree Scottish Rite Learning Center in Lowell, and Grand Representative to the Grand Lodge of Indiana. He was a recipient of the Joseph Warren Medal. He was a former Director of the Chelmsford Hockey Association and had fond memories of the annual trips to Quebec and New Brunswick, part of the youth hockey home and home series of the mid 1970s. He was a dedicated supporter of his sons youth sports teams and was known to umpire ball games and tend the goal in father/son hockey games. He enjoyed traveling with his wife to Hawaii and Alaska, and driving cross country. Norman spent many wonderful years with his family at his summer home on Lake Winnipesaukee. In addition to his wife, Norman is survived by his son Gregory A. McLoon and his wife Melanie of N. Chelmsford, and three grandchildren: Kelly and Andrew McLoon of N. Chelmsford, and Meghan McLoon of Nashua, NH, as well as his brother Kenneth McLoon of Bedford, NH and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son Norman III, and his sisters; Meredith Edmands and Phyllis McLoon. At his request, there will be no visitation and a private burial will take place in Fairview Cemetery in North Chelmsford. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, April 25, 2015 at 11 oclock at St. Annes Episcopal Church, 8 Kirk St., Lowell, MA.
