CHELMSFORD Roderick Wogan Merrill, 59, a longtime resident of Chelmsford and more recently of Wells, Maine, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, February 7, 2013. He was the husband of Ann (Harris) Merrill of Chelmsford. He was born in Natick on August 13, 1953, and was the son of Patricia A. (Wogan) (Merrill) Robertson and the late Richard Merrill. He was a graduate of Lowell Technological Institute, earning a bachelors degree in Economics. For the past 12 years Rod was an avid stock trader. Prior to that he was a real estate broker and was also employed by Marshalls for 17 years. His greatest accomplishment was as a dedicated stay-at-home father. Rod had a true love for animals and nature. He was an incredible outdoorsman and an avid fisherman, hunter, and marksman. He loved the game of baseball and was a car enthusiast whose passion was Corvettes. He was also admired as a highly intelligent man who could fix anything. In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by his daughter Ashley T. Merrill of Chelmsford; a brother, William F. Robertson III of Texas; a sister, Wendy Merrill Walker and her husband Carl of Needham; his father and mother-in-law, Ed and Ann Harris of Chelmsford, formerly of Atlanta, GA; a brother-in-law Edward Harris and his wife Lori-Anne of FL; uncle, Joseph Merrill and his wife Paulie of NH; aunt, Charlene Mayo of NH; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday from 4 to 7 pm at the BLAKE FUNERAL HOME, 24 Worthen St., CHELMSFORD. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday at 11 oclock at St. Mary Parish, 25 North Rd., Chelmsford. Interment in Pine Ridge Cemetery, Chelmsford.
